Bordered by two rivers, this site lies in the rice fields east of Hue City. Existing settlements sit along the banks of the rivers, framing the farmland between. The water and grasslands of this landscape, alongside the rich cultural heritage of the local villages and of Hue itself, have informed a unique project vision.
Vision
A lush, vibrant township immersed in nature, framed by waterways and activated by diverse tourism attractions. Inspired by the peaceful atmosphere and square, water-based forms of the Hue Citadel and iconic garden homes of the region, Hue Sanctuary is a retreat from the city, within the city, and a sanctuary for people and wildlife alike.

enCity’s Solutions
The proposed strategy is centred on a celebration of local culture and ecology. Existing settlements are integrated into the new communities to preserve built heritage, giving residents new economic opportunities while maintaining privacy and green cover with landscaped setbacks. A central green spine is carved through the site to absorb and manage the annual floods, supported by a network of detention ponds and bioswales. Grasslands, waterways and mudflats are restored across the landscape to attract and support migratory birds with a thriving ecosystem. Low-rise development maintains a sense of immersion in nature, increasing in density towards the main perimeter road and transportation routes.
Tourism activities and development highlight the rich landscape, including a bird sanctuary, ecological museum and river boating, or celebrate local built heritage through homestays and F&B. The parkland is activated through a cultural trail connecting these spaces to a nearby heritage sheltered bridge. The commercial district anchors the site at a major intersection, marking the main entrance to the project and providing connections to adjacent upcoming development clusters.
