This national awards program honors local and homegrown companies in Singapore and recognizes outstanding projects that greatly contribute to economic growth and social impact. Out of hundreds of entries, enCity’s application of technology to innovate public engagement processes stood out to the jury.

With its mission of transforming cities through innovation, in 2022, enCity in collaboration with Hubmeta and the Youth Union of Hanoi, developed a digital interactive tool for community engagement to gather ideas for the future of Hanoi.

The online community engagement platform allows the public, especially young people, to share their dream for the city through selecting desired programs and infrastructures in various key locations across Hanoi. In just three weeks of being live, 20,000 people visited the platform and casted 100,000 votes to express their hopes for the city, helping to enhance decision-making by the local government. This is the largest feedback collection to date in Vietnam.

Over the years, enCity has worked with American firm Sasaki to launch an interactive platform that collects citizens’ contribution to Thu Duc city master plan. enCity then developed a GIS-based land use management platform for the city, allowing government officers to view, compare, and extract planning information.

In his acceptance speech, enCity’s CEO Dzung Do Nguyen expressed his elation at the recognition, while noting that this is only the initial steps in enCity’s relentless journey of transforming cities through innovation, especially through the integration of technology in urban development.

“Urban planning is a profound force that touches the lives of every individual. It shapes our cities, creates parks, designs transportation networks, and opens up housing opportunities. It is an endeavour far too critical to be solely entrusted to planners alone.

From interactive maps that capture and visualize the aspirations of communities to online land use management platforms, enCity has redefined the paradigm of urban planning. We have demonstrated how it can genuinely be a collaborative effort, driven by the people and for the people.

As we stand here today, let this recognition be an inspiration to us all. Let it fuel our passion and dedication to continue shaping inclusive, connected, and groundbreaking urban environments.”

These projects portray enCity’s multidisciplinary approach and versatility in addressing urban challenges through planning, design, and technology. Through its holistic and integrated approach encompassing various aspects of urban development, enCity is poised to create large-scale impacts to cities regionally and globally.
