Thu Duc City established as Ho Chi Minh city’s new Innovation District
The team has worked closely with the HCMC Department of Planning and Architecture to plan the development of the district. The final report was submitted in September 2020, and approved by the Standing Committee of Vietnam’s National Assembly this month. The district will have a population of over 1 million and contribute 7% of Vietnam’s national GDP, as projected by Le Vinh Tan, Minister for Internal Affairs.
“We are very excited by this bold step from the Vietnamese government” shared Dzung Do Nguyen, enCity’s Group Managing Director. “The formation of a new city will create a consolidated government body to oversee the development of the innovation district. We look forward to working with the HCMC city government to roll out an inclusive and strategic planning process that engages local communities and enables innovation and entrepreneurship in the area”.
