As we mark this significant occasion alongside the 10th year of Singapore – Vietnam strategic partnership, enCity reflects upon our dedicated journey in enhancing cities, regions, and the quality of life for urban residents across Vietnam, Singapore, and beyond.
Our involvement in Vietnam’s urban landscape began in 2007 when professor Heng Chye Kiang, co-founder and senior advisor of enCity, was invited to evaluate and refine the master plan for Binh Duong New City, the capital of the fastest growing province in Vietnam. Drawing inspiration from Singapore’s successful urban development model and global best practices, enCity adapts and applies these lessons to the context of Vietnam. Serving as a modern administrative urban center for Binh Duong province, this initial endeavor became a foundational stepping stone for our further collaborations and knowledge exchange in urban development throughout Vietnam.
Over the years, our close partnership with the local government enabled us to continually refine and implement adjusted master plans for Binh Duong New City. Our works have also resulted in the close collaboration between enCity and Becamex IDC Corp, resulting in many iconic works such as VSIP Long An, one of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks. This project aimed to strengthen the industrial park’s connectivity and improve its overall livability.
Our dedication to innovation also earned us the prestigious Singapore Business Review Award 2023 in recognition of our groundbreaking work in public engagement in Hanoi and Thu Duc city earlier this year. Furthermore, one of enCity’s masterplans, Hue Sanctuary, conceptualises a modern urban township that seamlessly integrates with the natural environment and rich heritage of Hue Province in Vietnam. This innovative project was honored with the Singapore Good Design Award (SG Mark) 2023 in the Sustainable Design category.
These remarkable achievements exemplify the fruitful partnership between Singapore and Vietnam, and enCity takes great pride in promoting and contributing to its success. As the bilateral relations flourish between the two nations, we are thrilled to explore more opportunities to expand our connections and further the mutual development and transformation of Singapore and Vietnam.
