On March 25, the awards ceremony for the Planning Idea Competition for the Conversion of Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park into an Urban – Commercial – Service Area, organised by Dong Nai Province, took place in Bien Hoa City.

Representing enCity at the event and receiving the award were Marco Buinhas, Director of Design, and Hai Pham, Director of Planning and Infrastructure.

Speaking at the ceremony, the winner of First Prize – enCity – URBAN+ consortium – emphasised, “Our approach prioritises improving residents’ quality of life, protecting the ecological environment, and preserving the existing cultural heritage. Our vision is to position Bien Hoa as a model for development across the country.

The winning proposal is the first step, providing the foundation for future implementation. enCity looks forward to continuing to collaborate with the province and the city to bring Bien Hoa Dong Pho to life.”

As the largest functional transformation project in Vietnam, converting an industrial zone into an urban-commercial-service hub (spanning over 300 ha), “Bien Hoa Dong Pho” is a pioneering project that harmonizes industrial heritage preservation with the creation of new cultural spaces within the city.

Its core planning strategy, highly regarded by the judging panel, highlights include:

  • Great by Green – A unique ecological experience at the heart of the city, fostering a green urban landscape that seamlessly connects nature with a high-quality lifestyle.
  • Heritage Celebrated – The revival of industrial heritage, where past and future intersect, reshaping Biên Hòa’s identity.
  • Invisible Infrastructure – Concealed infrastructure, enhanced connectivity: Expanding the city’s skyline with an integrated underground infrastructure system, setting  Bien Hoa 1 apart as a dynamic hub of Southeast Vietnam.

With its groundbreaking vision, this project is not just a functional transformation but also a major catalyst propelling Bien Hoa onto the regional stage, positioning it among the leading urban centers in the area.
